What are Bio-identical Hormones?
Bio-identical hormones are those that are biochemically identical in molecular structure to the hormones already found in your body. You might be surprised to know that medical schools don’t teach therapies using molecules normally found in our bodies “first-line” therapies. You might think medical schools would teach the use of alien, patent molecules only when human or other natural molecules don’t work.
Using synthetic or laboratory-made hormones may also hurt you! Reports from both the Women’s Health Initiative (USA) and the Million Woman Study (UK) in 2002 reached the same conclusion: using non-bio-identical hormones causes more harm than good. Examples of non bio-identical hormones include Premarin (the name is derived from pregnant mare urine) and Prempro.
