When I first started coming to Dr. Strauchman, I had so many things wrong with me that it was hard to know where to start. But she did lots of blood tests and other tests that other doctors don't do, found out what was wrong with me, got me on the right natural supplements, and now I am feeling better than I have for years.

I also had the 3 day MUA. I had been in 5 car accidents and had lots of scar tissue and a lot of pain. Now I can move better than I could for years and my pain is greatly reduced also. I feel like a new person.

The most recent study Dr. Strauchman and I wrote was that of a 59 year old female with adult scoliosis. Scoliosis in adults can cause chronic pain, which was the case in our study. However, we endeavored to see how the use of manipulation under anesthesia could expedite the patient's recovery. In our opinion it was a tremendous adjunct to the ARC3D therapy we use in the office. It would likely have taken much longer to achieve the same level of result had we not performed the manipulation under anesthesia.

I knew that surgery for scoliosis was a recipe for failure. I was frightened because at 36 I had scoliiosis from my teens and feared I had only a future of increased pain and deformity awaiting me. I googled "scoliosis non-invasive procedures" and eventually found Dr. Morningstar. He is the coolest chiropractor! He was right on my wave length. He took some beginning x-rays of my spine. Then he sent me home with some special weights to wear 20 min. a day and in 3 months another x-ray. I could see the improvement! He didn't have to say anything! 6 months later my 10 degree curve has lessened to 5 degrees and my forward head posture is GONE. All I have to do is keep wearing the weights daily and eventually I will just do some exercises to keep my muscles strong. There is hope for scoliosis and I hope I can help someone make that step just like I did.

Scoliosis genetics and Scoliscore

One of the newest testing procedures available is called the Scoliscore. This test, a saliva test, helps determine the risk of progression for an adolescent with idiopathic scoliosis. This test identifies over 50 genetic markers to assess the likelihood that the patient's curvature will progress to a surgical threshold.

We are now performing this test on all new scoliosis patients, as this test will help identify those people who need early, aggressive physical therapy treatment, and those who can be observed and given home exercise recommendations. This test will fundamentally change the way scoliosis is treatment here in the US.

Kathleen,

I am wondering if you could give us an update on your daughter's treatment progress? Core strengthening, in my opinion, is vital to stabilize the torso and help reduce the chance of scoliosis progression. It is an integral part of the ARC3D concepts. For more information on ARC3D, you can visit www.scoliosis3d.com.

Last year I was in a car accident in which I sustained a bad disc herniation in my neck. It gave me a lot of pain in the left side of my neck, shoulder blade, and arm.

I visited a neurosurgeon and he told me that surgery would be performed and he gave me Flexeril and Vicodin. My surgery was scheduled for September.

I decided to see Dr. Morningstar since I had been a patient of his previously, although my family encouraged me not to see him because of the herniated disc.

Dr. Morningstar and Dr. Strauchman performed a 3 day MUA on my neck and upper back. Within a week after the MUA, I was able to totally discontinue taking the Flexeril and Vicodin. I have had a 98% recovery.

Before the MUA, I honestly thought I would never have a life again. Thanks to Dr. Morningstar and Dr. Strauchman I'm now pain free. They will continue to receive my praises forever, and I will continue to refer people to them.

When I called your office i was told you do not do pelvic exams.Do you reccomend any Drs.? I am assuming you want that done before you treat someone.I am looking for a female although the last one I went to told me they find that antidepressants are great for menopause.I never returned!

Mike,

It's very possible that you could benefit from BHRT of some kind. One of the first things men notice when their hormones are not balanced is a slower recovery after workouts or athletic activities. Also, from the symptoms you're describing above, it could also be a thyroid problem. My recommendation would be to come in for an evaluation and lab work first to at least see what the exact cause is, then we can discuss the treatment options with you.

I'm a 37 year-old male. I don't seem to be suffering from loss of sex-drive, or desire, but I am having a hard time getting my bad cholesterol under control, losing weight, and am quite tired most of the time. As little as about 6 months ago, I quit running, and working out (bad thing to do) and it has become very difficult to get back into the "frame of mind" that I had before I had to quit working out. I'm wondering if any of the symptoms I have would benefit from BHRT.

My 13 yr old daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis 3 years ago. I chose a proactive position and had her into physical therapy. In the beginning she had an increase in the curve over a year and a half -now approx. 22. It has remained approx 22 for the last yr and she has grown! She has been more aggressive in core strengthening exercises- every day. At our last visit the doctor measured her several times and kept referring to his notes. It was actually less then 22 but he would only write down "same" as last check up. He could not believe it was better! He wanted to brace her 1 1/2 years ago and I said no.
I would rather strenghten the core muscles than destroy them. The other important factor is we have been praying for it to be better!
